Back when 321 Studios was able to produce DVD X Copy, I bought a copy of DVD X Copy Gold. I have since changed systems and wanted to install it on my new computer. I am getting a server can not be reached error when trying to register.

Am I out of luck on this?

Werent they closed down due to copyright issues?

I believe so. I don't remember all the details, but they went to court for some time before they had to close. But at the time, they seemed legit, and were in at least both Fry's and Best Buy. I movie industry was afraid of pirating and had them shut down. I was using the software to make working backups of my dvds.

If there is an issue with making legit backups for personal use, why do I see so many questions about DVDs and backup software?
