Question about Monitor resolutions and widescreen

I'm still debating on whether or not I want to get a widescreen monitor. I know I want one but I'm worried about resolutions. I plan to get this monitor:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/98788

Look's great and I've seen it in action at work and looks awesome. I know the desktop of windows will look ok but I play games a lot and I checked it some of my games support the high resolution that the monitor I want states and some games don't.

Question to you guys is. What if my games don't support the resolution stated? Do I just pick the next resolution down or something? are there other widescreen resolutions that'll still make it look widescreen without stretching?

Thanks in advance!

P.S I'm getting a 7600GT PCI-E soon (yes I'm changing mobo too)

P.S.S: Is this monitor any good? I been hearing good things about it: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/113266/rb/20990773951

The specs of it look average-pretty good. But I would definetly try finding some user reviews. Certain details of a moniter can be measured in different ways to give better looking specs.

Ive seen a # of good reviews for the Acer. Im pretty sure the resolution isnt a problem. Read some reviews to help make your decision, im sure some people talk about it(hundreds of reviews):

IMO, the Acer would be the wiser buy.

Thanx for that Carl. I think I'll stick with the Acer.

Anyone know about the resolution stuff though?
