My comp wont ever be turned on until I'm done building. I'm not upgrading my system. Doesn't the metal gotta be connected so the elcricity goes directly to the ground? And please tell me what are brass stand offs this is the only thing I never heard about so far in building comps. |

a ground is just somewhere to transfer the static electricity, having it connected to the case will be fine for anything you build up as you are working...the reason i said i leave it connected was incase the innitial shock went to the ground instead of the case because if components were close enough it could possibly jump...but that is probobally not even nessacary...but i don't see a reason not to so I do it anyways
the brass standoffs go between the motherboard and the case, if two solder points on the back a shorted by the metal of the case you can have alot of problems

They come with the case, not the board. I failed to install those on my very first computer build.

Back to the ground... If you unplug your computer, it won't be grounded and you should not work on it when it's plugged in.
So... find another ground. Another plugged in computer will work fine.

Or...you could plug it in, ground yourself to it...unplug it, and then put everything in...
As long as you dont move around too much(on a floor where you can generate static electricity easily) you will be fine...if you want you can touch the screw on a wall plate(like on a switch or outlet) those should all be grounded. |

I'm gonna be plugging the grounding strap on the plugged in comp I'm using now. I'm not gonna plug in the comp I'm building til I'm done building. |

I always do the 'hold my forarm to the case while working' thing, I suppose I should get one of them. |

Is the Soprano's front fan useless if the front plastic case is closed? I don't see any openings on the case to let air pass thru the closed front piece. Please someone tell me if this cases front fan is useless unless the front is open all the time because I don't want it open a lot. I'm waiting on buying all the parts just because of this one question I have. Also the fan looks like I can easily just change the rear fan to exhaust, is this corrent? |
