    lcd tv

    i bought an lcd tv to replace my lcd monitor. mainly so i can hook up my xbox or ps2 but also to have a bigger pc monitor.... the problem is it runs 800x600 resolution. everything looks good at 800x600 but when i change the resolution to 1024x768 everything gets blury and it gets even worse at 1280x1024. is there anything i can do to change that? i tried to adjust my video card settings and the tv settings and nothing works. i hooked it up through the vga port. the tv i bought is a Polaroid 20"..... did i buy a bad tv or is there any thing i can do to fix it?

    Most of the time LCD's have a "set" resolution that they work with. I say "set" because although they may work with other resolutions, most will never look as good as their default res. AFAIK, most of the newer LCD's have a default res of 1024x768. Although you have one that's considered smaller these days in the tv realm that's probably why it has a 800x600 default res.

    To increase the resolution of an xbox or ps2 is to simply buy the upgrade cables at best buy otherwise it will never work well.

    Your tv should only be run in 800x600 mode as that is the actual resolution of the tv, aka there are 800 pixels across and 600 down (as shown on page 26 of your manual). If you wanted a tv to use with the computer you would have been much better off with a HDTV in 720p (1366x768) or 1080p (1920x1080). Any attempt to run a higher resolution is an attempt to have single pixels displaying more than one thing (which is impossible of course). Most people who run a tv on their computer use it as a second moniter, maybe you should look into doing that so you can have reasonable resolution for computer applications and a larger screen for computer & console gaming. sorry for the bad news btw

    yes, buying an actual LCD TV is not best for use with a high resolution computer as default resolution for TV programs is usually 800x600 or less, usually 640x480. HD is different, but SD is about that. The best route to go would be to return the one you have, if possible, and get something like one of these:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Subcategory=20

    That would be my suggestion, or just run it at 800x600 Good luck
    My Rig:
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.16||6GB OCZ Rev2 DDR2 800 @ 1:1 ratio
    MSI 975X Platinum||GTX 275 896MB ||WD Black 640GB and 2x80GB RAID 0
