| Extreme Limits of a "Dell Inspiron 1520 1.5 GHz Core 2 256MBGeforce 8600M GT"
What is the best game that this Dell Laptop could run at low settings?
This is the link to the Dell. It's $999CAD with the upgrade. http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/...C=N15202V_F_1E
Only thing I've upgraded is the video card to a 256MB Geforce 8600M GT.
I'm finally ready to buy a laptop and it's either this or an entry level MacBook.
This Dell is about $200CAD cheaper than the Mac. When you're on a budget, that's a fair amount. I'd be willing to sacrifice games if the Mac is really that much better because I love the way the MacBook looks and performs. From what I've heard, Mac OS X Tiger is just the best thing ever and apparently Leopard is going to blow Vista out of the water in terms of functionality.
But if I could get games and performance for less money... I may be tempted.
Any help would be awesome! |

It'll be able to play most games fairly well on medium settings. |

for example.... let's say I upgraded the RAM to 2GB as well.
Then I installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or Crysis,
Think it could run them without a hitch on medium.... maybe low? |

Yeah, medium-low settings for those games shouldn't be too much trouble. Medium settings might not even be much of a problem. |

Why not look at the new Macbook Pro, which you can get with that same GPU? Quote: |
Whether you’re creating 3D animation, editing photos from the day’s shoot, or playing your favorite video game, MacBook Pro delivers serious processing power with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics controller.

Or is that outside your budget? |

Oh good nanny goats gruff Osprey, would that I could. I would do some very extreme things to get a MacBook Pro.... very extreme....
It's a little outside my budget, I was lookin at 1100 before tax maximum. Stupid 14% Canadian tax rate kills the Sub-total prices. |

| His budget is around $1000 Canadian dollars, so $2000 American Dollars is a little above his budget I think. |
