| HELP: Need Boolean Search Tool
Hey everybody,
I'm looking for a simple tool that replaces the basic "Find" feature built into programs like Internet Explorer, Word, etc that includes boolean functionality (i.e. computers AND monitors). I need it mainly for Internet Explorer as I'm doing a lot of research for a project here at work, and having something like this would help a lot.
Any suggestions or tips would be great! |

Internet search? Don't all search engines do this? Google and Alta Vista do for sure.
Try typing in grand arizona -canyon.
You can also just click on Google's Advanced Search which simplifies boolean operation.

Ol'Tunzafun,
I'm looking for a tool, like a plug-in (for IE or Firefox), that you install on your computer that you can use to run boolean searches from within content in a word document or what's contained in your browser window (in this case, Internet Explorer), etc.
I don't mean a search engine, like Google, etc.
Thanks for the reply, though. |

Ah... OK, when I read Internet Explorer, I assumed internet search. A good desktop search engine that uses boolean operators is Copernic Desktop Search. It will search Office documents (not Access), PDFs and several other formats. Give it a few hours to index your drive and you are good to go.
Google Desktop does not do boolean.

I've heard of Copernic. I used them years ago (5 or 6) and liked it's interface for web search but preferred Alta Vista and Google for ease of use.
I'll try your suggestion out and see how it goes, thanks!
Anyone else? |
