Got 3.5k (more or less) Deciding what's best for me.

Hey guys,

So basically I got about 3.5k (more or less) to spend on a computer (or computers).

I know I need a laptop next year for cegep/university so that's one of my priorities. I also want a really good gaming computer, cuz I'm getting sick of my p4 dell that can't play anything.

So basically I'm thinking I either spend the whole 3.5k on a good laptop, that does everything I want.

Or I get a really good computer for 2-2.5k and then get a moderate lappy just to tote around.

Ideas, opinions, bring 'em on.

I say you spend about 1200 or so on a home gaming rig. Then put the rest towards a lappy. You can get plenty of power for both with that kind of budget...

Just my two cents though..

IMO, you should get a powerhouse desktop rig (8800 GTX perhaps? Don't overdo it though.) and a nice laptop.

Alright so basically I think I got my answer, and so I guess I'll start a new thread with a list of what I'm thinking about.

One thing first is I have this question about a monitor. Because what I've been wanting to do is I have a couch right behind me (3-4 feet away) and I want to be able to use it. Now the thing is, would a 22/24" monitor be big enough for me to sit on the couch and view it properly? Would I only be able to use it to watch movies? Or would I be able to see everything on it from ~4ft away?
