    Microsoft Loses EU antitrust case

     
    Hello,
    The Court of First Instance held up a 2004 court ruling by the EU Commission that Microsoft abused it's dominant position. Microsoft will have to pay the $690 million dollars, ordered the company to reveal secret computer code to rivals so they could develop competing products, and to sell a version of its ubiquitous Windows operating system without its media player. Weather or not MS will follow these guidelines, or appeal one more time is up in the air. We'll just have to see what happens. Personally I would feel even better if they stripped the OS of Internet Explorer. Take Care.

    i dont get the OS without the media player part. I don't browse with IE either but I use it to save videos and stuff, so its kinda useful.

    krotch... prolly the same deal as with IE/netscape back in the day... and we all know how that turned out

    WMP uses components of IE to work, and is pretty much totally integrated with the OS like IE is.. that is, i'm sure, where the dispute comes in

    nah i never actually read about the IE/netscape thing. Who needs it with all the 3rd party stuff out there, who even needs windows really.
