uTorrent is limited to 30KBs DL

My uTorrent application appears to be limited to a download speed of 30 KB/s. I thought at first it was just for one occasion, but it's not, it doesn't move any higher than 30.

I have checked out the preferences to ensure that there are no limits on the download speeds, everything is set to unlimited, still no sign of improvement.

However, in the application window, at the bottom, it does say 'Download Limited' - I'm not quite sure what this means, as there are no limits within the options.

Try setting a lower limit on upload & see if the download increases.

I seem to recall reading that some ISPs are setting limits on torrent bandwidth, but I don't see how they can tell the difference in the traffic.

Tried that, still remains the same.

Yes, they are restricting bandwidth, though, there is an option in uTorrent which allows the connection to be encrypted, so that should bypass that. I highly doubt my ISP is restricting torrent traffic.

They're already forwarded.

Have you checked that its not limited in the options paga at 30? Mine works at full speed at the time if I use 0 in download section.

Does forwarding a new port in the router setup and on the application make any difference?

forward the whole port range, see if that helps. Also, get a new torrent engine.

realizing this is a very old thread, but it still shows up for people googling an answer to this question (such as myself), so i'll post what i found on another site

In utorrent, if you limit your upload to 5KB/sec or lower, it limits your download to about 6 times your upload;

Upload = Download
1KB/sec = 6 KB/sec
2KB/sec = 12 KB/sec
3KB/sec = 18 KB/sec
4KB/sec = 18 KB/sec
5KB/sec = 30 KB/sec
>5KB/sec = Unlimited*
*Actual speed will vary. Swarm speed, internet connection speed, and upload speed affect speeds.
