First Time Building a Computer
I recently got my parents to agree to do funding for a new computer for my personal use and could use some advice as to what to buy.
I'm currently using a Dell Dimension 2400 with P4 2.8 GHz, 768 MB DDR 333MHz with integrated video and sound so I could use the upgrade.
I have a budget of about $1000 to $1200 CAD and I'll be mostly using it to watch high quality movies and playing games.
What I'm considering so far (I live in Canada so Newegg doesn't ship here):
Video card: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...?EdpNo=2900232
Processor (doesn't come with a fan): http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...512&CatId=2396
HD: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...949364&CatId=8
Memory: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...992&CatId=1872
I haven't decided on what type of cooling, case, and power supply I'll need, though I am looking for a 22'' LCD monitor.
Thanks in advance.Last edited by ben1234; September 23rd, 2007 at 01:18 PM.

I was wondering about cooling because Tigerdriect won't give me the warranty for the CPU unless I buy a heatsink and fan to go along with it and I was planning on overclocking CPU.

Look at whatever they recommend, then get a better one...

Don't need cooling??? He also mentioned that Newegg dosen't deliver to Canada. Look at Thermaltake for cooling. I've used their CPU cooling systems on my own rigs, plus those I've built for others. I believe TigerDirect carries them. Don't skimp on price with your cooling or powersupply. Good luck.

Heres a cheap Heatsink Fan that will be sufficient if you dont plan on OCing too much.

This OCZ would be overkill, but if your budget allows it would be a good investment.

Tigerdirect.ca doesnt offer any quality 400-550W PSU's. If there are any other sites you wouldnt mind ordering from, post here.
