a program will not uninstall from add/remove

after finding out i can no longer use the 'final draft 7' program, i removed all the files from my computer, but......i still have it in my add/remove program, and it wont remove when i try uninstalling it, i keep getting the error message : 1721: there is a problem with this windows installer package. a program required for this install to complete could not be run, try contacting the vendor (well um er, one needs to have a 'customer number' in order to get any response from the company in question for tech support, and my customer number according to them is invalid, and apart from that, deleting the files, ive also deleted the customer number). can anyone suggest how i can remove this program from my add/remove, or is the darn thing stuck there for good? grrrrrrrrrrrr!

    can anyone help? thankyou

Did you remove all the files before running the uninstaller? It's probably trying to find the file it needs but it's gone.

If that's the case, the only way I can think of for solving it, is to reinstall the software and uninstall it using it's own uninstaller.

    cannot uninstall program

um jimmy, thankyou for your quick response, but i cant reinstall the program again because it was sent to me by file transfer through a friend i have on a chat program, and believe me, i am not putting him through all that again just to uninstall it properly, and yes, i removed ALL files regarding this program.

so im guessing that the program is bascially stuck in my add/remove permanently.

but, hey, thankyou for responding, much appreciated .

You could try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. We use it at work whenever someone can't remove something from their computer in the add/remove programs area.. more info @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Link to DL the program.. http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...bd/msicuu2.exe (also located under the More Information catagory)

now, one more prob to all techies out there, im on windows me version 4.90.3000 family 6 model 5 processor, um i tried using my system restore, but just when it starts going through the process, it stops and takes me to a window telling me it cant restore, any way i can fix this?

To get rid of a program that is in the add/remove all you have ot do is navigate to the right key in the registry. I believe it's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

How to manually remove programs from the Add or Remove Programs tool
