I would go for a different board. While ECS isn't a "bad" brand, and they generally make good baords for the money, if stability is paramount as you say, I would spend a bit more and chose something of higher quality. I'm a fan of Gigabyte and Abit boards. I use to also recommend asus, but the last several boards I've used from them have been absolutly horrible, and that's assume they worked in the first place.

ASUS is good IMO. That's what I'm running on now. And I've used in a couple of different builds. Never had a problem. I will second the Gigabyte though, they have some nice boards out now. Next I would say MSI.
This is what I would get though.. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/113975
Good luck! |

To be honest, swear on my daugthers life, i wanted to go ASUS because of the reputation they have but the MOBO i wanted is out of stock: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123834
This has decent integrated 6100 graphics Nvidia chipset, which i am familiar with etcetera. I think deep down the main reason i have chosen the ECS board is because it supports full PCI-E x 16 bandwidth at a low price meaning that if my friend should want to plug in a decent graphics card to play games with for there son etcetera they can without the 8 x bandwidth limitation nonsense also as with the power supply i have selected it to cope with upgrades. But the ECS board is sound isn't it ? Just because it is ECS doesn't mean it will just be lame and fail does it ? Oh just for my piece of mind there aren't any compatibility errors are there nobody has said anything about this.
Karma £52 is too much mate but thanks for your input.
Krotch i think you need to get a life, i know computer hardware but will always ask for help to make sure i get it right because it makes sense to do so.
YOUR POST IS OFFENSIVE AND NOT NECESSARY.

Krotch, I just reported your last post. There is no need for that. JRB3 is just trying to get some advice, which is why this forum is here. No one called you a fucking idiot in your post on Floating Point Unit. I hope you get banned, you just deter people from coming on here..
On topic now..
I think your good on compatibility. I don't see anything that won't work..
As far as ECS boards. I've used one in a build, and it's still running with no problems. I myself don't have any bad experience with them. But they're not the greatest board out. But if your that strapped for money, then it should do for your build. |

As far as ASUS, funny thing, their lower end GeForce 6100/6150 based boards I've actually had very good luck with. It's their higher end boards that I've found severely lacking. In particular, their P35 boards. YMMV of course. |

I decided against the Celeron for 300 from bestbuy and have placed my order with Ebuyer for the parts listed all except the CPU because it was out of stock so i had to get the 4400 x2 instead for around £7 more which is not a massive problem.
The system was meant to cost £200 but it has cost £225 but i think the system is great for the price. The parts should arrive middle of next week time. I am looking forward to my first dual core and DDR2 build. Thanks for your input Steve, Ramon & Karma it is greatly appreciated.
I would just like to say special thanks to Krotch for his posts which have been pleasant in nature and contained colourful creative language throughout. |
