cant install drivers on laptop?

So, my girlfriends dad recieved a free laptop from some business deal. Its a BenQ A52. It came with linux, so he bought windows and I started to install it. The driver CD came with Vista drivers I think so that was no help as we got XP Pro.

Anyway, windows installed without a problem so I got on to installing drivers. I dloaded the latest ATI Catalysts and when they started to install I got a message saying that there is no compatible hardware!! The laptop has a freakin Radeon Xpress 200M ffs!! how is that not compatible ;/ Same thing went to wifi drivers, these installed but they dont seem to work....

anyone have any clue whats going on?

Many OEM hardware parts are special builds and the required drivers are found on the pc makers web site.
