| Building my first computer... help?
So far this is what I have (bought):
CPU: Intel E6750 2.66G
CPU Fan: CoolerMaster Hyper TX2 or CM GeminII (but need two fans)
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Case: Antec 900
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX
Video Card: ?
Sound Card: ? (Logitech Z-5500 speakers)
PSU: ?
Don't want to spend over $500 (not including what I've already bought). I want to be able to play Test Drive Unlimited at max settings. I also plan on using Windows XP and not Vista. Please recommend where the Question Mark is at.

If you are on a budget I'd go with an AM2 system instead of a Core 2 one. |

Oops. I should've mentioned those are the things that I already bought.... I'm not going to upgrade for a long time after this, so I figured I should go as much as I can with the CPU. I was thinking between the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 and AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz, but I went with the Intel. |

Ok, so you just need a mobo/gpu/apu/psu? Anything else? |

I'm not familiar with SLI. Is it simple? Would the EVGA GeForce 8600GT by itself be powerful enough to run Test Drive Unlimited at high settings? Quote:

I could use some more PATA though as most of my hard drives are still PATA, as well as my DVD drive. I read some reviews for the Abit Mobo and the 'double boot' problem (supposedly fixed after upgrading the bios to beta - seems like a small hassle) kind of scares me, and also having to increase the RAM voltage since the default for the Abit mobo is 1.8 - the ram I bought requires 2.1 - if I didn't read the reviews I probably would be stuck on what to do.
Edit: Oh, and the rebate for the Abit sounds good too; I don't really want to pass off on that. I think the area I should be spending most on is the video card.
