Which PSU in the 500W range?

I now need a new PSU for my computer, i went into my room this morning and pushed the button and the damn thing snap, crackled, and popped.... ohh and stunk as well

So here are my choices that I have found on NewEgg.. I am looking in the $50-60ish range for a decent PSU, the one I am replacing is a Logisys 550W PSU, which sorta sucked, but worked for years. You can see what my computer has in my sig, add a few fans and you'll get the idea Which PSU would you get below? Also post if you know another one that should take a look at.

    Thanks,

    ShuckyD

    Hi there Shucky!
To be honest, I really don't like any of the one's you posted. But if I had to decide out of those, I'd probably take the Thermaltake.
My choices in that price range would be:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371004

^ The one I'd opt for myself. OCZ is a good brand!

    ^My second choice.

    Hope I helped!

Out of the one's ShuckyD selected, I like the COOLER MASTER eXtreme RP-500. I've always had good luck with the Cooler Master PSUs.

But from Karma's list, the SILVERSTONE ST50F is the best of the bunch followed closely by the OCZ.

The coolermaster extremes aren't bad mine seems to be a bit noisy but IMO I wouldn't buy one at that price. These things go on-sale for around $10+shipping after MIR almost every week. Microcenter has them right now 9.99 after $30mir http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0258432

is the brand Xclio good? I see a couple linked above and sorta liked it.. I also liked that ThermalTake I picked, but If i can find something around that price with "free shipping" i'll go for that.

X-Clio's are a good brand. If I remember correctly their a division of Silverstone.
They're in JP's sticky for PSU's under the *Good* catagory. I just used one for a build for a friend, and it even pushes a decent sized GPU also. (ATI 3850 what I used)

I really like that one in the link that RicheemxX posted and come to think of it I will within a few miles of a MicroCenter today, not sure if they will be open, but I can always call.

Can anyone else vouch for that one?

The only thing I don't like about that unit,
    1. Only has 16amp 12v+ rails. Where most of the others are more then that.
    2. It's only 70% efficient. Where as most of the other one's I recommended are 80%.
Other then that, it looks ok to me..

Being that he's running an 8600GT that requires at least a 350W PSU w/ 22A on the 12V rail, that PSU will be fine.

This is by far the best bang for buck in that price range

Thanks all for the reccommendations... I ordered the one from MicroCenter yesterday and I like the one that JPMiller posted but it is only 400W, I may just order that one as well and send both rebates out together if that last one posted is that much better than the CoolerMaster I just bought.. ($9.99 + shipping AR)

Watts mean little compared to amps....400w is still plenty for most systems minus high end SLI usage...

Also, that little 400w puts out more amps than that "500w" coolermaster you order, and so does my fsp400w...I've got a feeling the coolermaster is truly 350-400w but disguised as 500w, especially at that price.

i agree, the FSP is the best for the price.
Not to mention I own it, and I love it.
