Spent all day downloading test for a school on there slow network. So I have downloaded the test and put it on usb drive and want to beable to auto run it from the usb when it reads the usb. I have seen this before but can't seem to get it to work.
File name :
autorun.inf (have also tried autoplay.inf, does it need to be a dat file?)
[autorun]
open=testexponly.exe
;ShellExecute=index.html
icon=testexponly.exe
shell\configure=&Configure...
shell\configure\command=setup.exe
shell\install=&Install...
shell\install\command=setup.exe
label=test install
I have tried that and a few others without any luck. Anyone know how to do this??
Thanks

Is auto play on for all drives? Right click the CD drive.
You can check this in Group Policy as well.
Go to Start | Run |
Go to, Administrative Templates | System | "Turn Off Autoplay"
Make sure its disabled for all drives.
I personally keep Autoplay off. It causes more trouble than its worth. Is it that hard to just launch the app.? |

For the most part I also find it annoying but for this case I don't want it disabled. I'm trying to use this to make the install faster. |

yes it's in the root dir on the usb drive.
If Autoplay has to be turned off for this to work then it wont work for me as it will take longer to disable auto play on the computers then it would to just copy over the file. |

What operating system?
If Xp, do they have sp2?
We need to know this! Makes a big difference.
Did you try adding the line:
action=Install teseexponly
Why do you have all that extra stuff in there? Quote: Why is the semi-colon there?
This commands opens a webpage named "index.html" Why is it in here? |
