Why bother getting vista 32-bit, instead of 64?

Unless you need over 4gb of memory(inc. GPU memory) then theres nothing wrong with the 32bit version and you could save yourself some hastle with any old hardware or whatnot that may be used. The same can be said for software. Why take the risk as there are no improvements in performance from Vista 32bit to Vista 64 bit?

Well, consider the low price of ram, and the pace growing demand of programs, and ability of processors, it seems reasonable to think the 4gb of ram or more might be useful, so in building a new system, why limit yourself? |

No average home user's software currently uses more than 2GB of ram and imo it would do fine with 32bit, but i understand the idea so i say go for whichever. (he can always upgrade to the 64bit version at a later date).
The video card missing is due to the fact that an x850XT PE will be used until it is upgraded. I personally would say thats a good idea as it was a great card in its day(now a fair while ago) and still runs games fine. Prices on GPUs will come down so why spend money now when its not needed? |

Yea buckaro your right i am going to use my x850xt just now untill i upgrade as it seems best idea for me just now
I know this might sound stupid, but how do i move all the stuff from my current computer onto the new oneonce i have built it ? like all my pictures, files, songs, games, etc....
Can i just take out hard drive and put it in new computer ??
And i want to start buying my parts soon starting with the cpu and mobo but im struggling to choose whose list to choose so far ? I will be playing games at high settings on resolutions of 1280x1024. So dual core or quad ?? AMD or Intel ??
Cheers again everyone, i really apreciate this

For best bang for your buck above the cheap chips, you need intel. I would say dual-core though you can safely choose either. Quads will future proof for sure. But I don't believe resolution has as much of an effect on the CPU as it does the GPU. CPU gets bogged down by physics and the like. |

Yes, you should be able to add the hard drive. |
