And if your into modding, this case is a modders dream.. | As much as I want to say thank you for the input I have to say you sux cuz you made me doubt for one second about the price of the antec and now I have spent the past 3 days searching, reading, thinking, and comparing different cases and trying to figure out just EXACTLY what I want and need from a case that should last me a good ten years now lol.
I like the layout and most of the looks of the Cooler Master COSMOS, but there are a few things that I can't get over with the design and how much modification I am going to have to do to it in order to get it where I think it should be. The HDD trays are very cool looking, but that bottom tray being a solid piece is a big deal breaker for me. I just don't understand why they couldnt have punched it like they did the top section. You can't put in 6 drive door/bays and expect people to use just the top three that have cooling to them
I also like the new Antec twelve hundred, but again there are just a few things they didn't quite get right on. Close, but not enough to drop $200 on it and STILL have to mod on ya know.
After seeing some cable mods for the nine hundred I still think I am going to end up going with that one. Just with a few inner coats of piano gloss black and maybe a touch of airbrush custom work in there. Just ahve to get over spending $100 on a brand new case and IMEDATLY hacking into it with the Dremel lol. |

That turned out pretty damn nice. and ya that side window was a bit of a deal breaker on the CM 690 for me as well, Just means that much more work I have to do. I have a pretty nasty back problem right now that is going to end up resulting in surgery, so have to spend a little more and have it done already. less is more. And honestly I don't like the ports straight up and down on the top like that, I can see me snapping one of those pretty easy, esp with my heavy gauge 1394 cable lol.
But again that did turn out pretty nice. congrats
is what I have in mind to BEGIN with for the 900
IDK though cause I really don't like the HDD mounting in that case, considering it is a "gamers case" lol

Dammit KARMA, I have FINALLY come to the realization that what I want in a case, I am going to have to build, and the CM 690 is the best/cheapest/closest platform to start with. I am pretty sure I can get a hold of the perforated honeycomb style metal for cheap so that I can recover the top when i take the "front panel control " out and replace it on the front where it belongs lol. I don't think it will be too hard to finess into one of the open 5.25" bays. First thing's first though, the case is gonna have to be stripped, the inside and back painted black along with a few holes punched so I can work some cable magic. Oh ya, gonna have to cut out the side panel too so everyone can see the inner workings, mainly ME.
In short, thank you very much for bringing this case to my attention. |

It's a very nice case for the price. When I was looking at them, they were pretty cheap with a MIR. So I ended up getting mine for $25. Not to shabby eh?
Anywho, one of the best things about this case, is you can mod the hell out of it, and really the case makes it easy. If your looking for some more ideas, check out this link: The "Official" Cooler Master 690 Club - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net
There's a huge group of CM690 fanboys there. (myself included)
That should give you some more ideas.
(Glad I could persuade you to the dark side) |

Seriously THX for the link. It's always nice to see what others have done and try to incorporate some of their ideas into your own. I should be picking mine up some time next week |
