Question
IT Hard Drive Readers/Enclosures

Hey all,

I know there are PLENTY of USB Hard drive enclosures out there, for SATA, IDE, etc. However, I don't need a home version of this tool, I need the Professional version of this thing. I need a tool that will allow me to connect up SATA, IDE, and the laptop versions of both is possible to a USB connection.

Of course with the home versions of these things, the enclosures and connectors are not made for constant opening and closings, they are just made to stick a HDD in there and leave it alone. I have HDD's all the time that I need to pull data off of via USB that I don't want to mess around with putting in another system.

So any IT Pro's out there with recommendations? Please?

The obvious choice, (if I read you right), is a USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Adapter with Power Adapter

There are several brands, but they all do the same thing an external enclosure does, without the enclosure part

I use these ALL the time and they are insanely convenient

JPMiller,

Yes that is exactly what I want, maybe I can even find one with a power adapter ... Any brand recommendation?

That or something similar was going to be my exact suggestion, and Undead you might note it comes with a power adapter. The one I had didn't, looks like I might have to pick me up a new toy

Thanks for all the info guys, I think I am going to try picking up this unit

Seems to have lots of good reviews and the price is certainly right.
