Hi there, Welcome to TIMO
Do you plan on buying a pre-built, or do you want to build your own?
If you've never built your own, this is as good as time as any to learn. Parts are fairly cheap still. You get to pick the quality that goes into it. And you can make it as powerful as your budget allows.
If your looking for a pre-built system, then a Dell Vostro line should fit the bill. You can add in a 8800GT, and however much RAM and what not, and get a decent gaming box.
But everyone on here, (well just about everyone on here) will suggest you build your own.
Give us some more info also.
Do you need a monitor, Keyboard & Mouse also?
If so, is that factored into the 1k-1.5k?
Do you live in the US?
Post back some more info, and I'd be happy to help find something, or put a build list together.. |

I would base your system on Intel Quad Core 6600 and 8800 GT or 9600 GT GPU.
Watch pre-builts as they may have smaller cases and motherboards; some of the newer high power graphic cards may not fit |

I would build it yourself.
Also, how much do you want to spend? |

Yes. I am starting from scratch. This will be my first computer and I am going to be spending around 1 - 1.5k... I am new to computers and such but I'm extremely willing to learn so any help will be greatly appreciated... So.. Where do we begin?
By the way, I do have a case that I had gotten from a friend. It is brand new.. I don't want to put it to waste so if there's anyway we can get a decent system in that that would be great... Here is the case.. :::::::::: NIKAO Dragonfire Black Page ::::::::::

wow. That's one ugly case.
But it'll work great for you system. As long as it holds all the parts, and you like it, that's all that matters.
As far as where to start. Well, you got it going already.
Budget is the first thing to figure out. Another thing to think about, what is the main use for this PC gonna be? Gaming, Office work, browsing?
After that, you get to start picking parts.
I can make a list for yeah if you want? I normally pick the best bang for buck products out, that offer the most future proofing. (Check my sig, that's pretty much the system I'll probably list out for you)
Another thing you can do now, is get to reading on how to put a tower together.
It's really easy, and as long as your careful, anyone can build their own system.
I just taught my 12year old cousin how to build a tower, and he put his first computer together already.
This is my favorite guide that I've found so far. How to build a PC - The Tech Report - Page 1 I'll get started on a list, and post it soon. |

Any suggestions? | Id base it on an E8500 (or a q6600 if you want to future proof more than get raw performance right now)
Take note that the current games dont use more than 2 cores
4 gigs of ram
a NVIDIA 8800GTS
a nice beefy 500W or 600W power supply from a reputable manufacturer
Is a screen, keyboard and such included in the 1k? and your country as Karma already mentioned
