I usually don't get involved in these system builds because it's really not dependent so much on the hardware as it is on the builder's skills. Quote: |
Monitor: Major Brand 17" CRT Monitor - Black $135.00
| What does that mean? No brand? A CRT? No - you want a branded monitor (Samsung, LG, whatever) and some sort of LCD. They use less power and are actually bigger per inch than CRTs. They take up less desk space too. Quote: |
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Basic x64 Edition - DVD (OEM) $110.00
| Why are you getting x64 and Vista Home Basic? You won't be happy. Drivers are difficult to find and a lot of software (many games too) won't work well on it. Get the regular flavor (x86) Vista Home Premium. You'll be happier.
That hard drive is fine, but you can double the size and get faster performance from this Western Digital for a few dollars more: Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
Where are you shopping? I don't know anyplace that bundles generic CRT monitors in systems anymore. You should try to shop at Newegg, MWave or ZipZoomFly. They have excellent service and great prices. MWave can put together a system for you that rocks and can most likely beat that price.

if you plan on getting that copy of vista installed you will need a DVD drive, (not a cdrom)
vista comes on a DVD

** Please update the latest BIOS to support Intel 45nm CPU
did you see this,
and why the 5400 RAM
DDR2 1066*/800/667 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
get the 1066 although I have the P5K-E wifi and if there the same you will need to overclock it to 1066,
but thats easy, |

Also, your going to lose dual channel mode on your RAM unless you have 2x sticks in there. Your better off getting a 2x1Gb set then one single 2gig stick. |
