Video Card Upgrade
I want to upgrade my Video card, however my PS is only 350 Watts (wife wouldn't let me upgrade when I bought the computer...too much money). Anyway living here in Greece everything is quite expensive (a decent 550w power supply - $150+ - Dollar to Euro conversion). I can't ship a PS here (shipping is too expensive), but I will be able to manage to get a video card shipped here (through family/friends in the States). Right now I have a Nvidia Geforce 6200 TC (memory is shared with system - 256 on the card, 1 GB total in my system). Can't spend too much at this time...but anything I throw in here will make my system a lot better than what it is now. So I'm looking for a card that will run on a 350 watt PS, and not too expensive (under a $100 - around $50 would be better.). Not a big gamer, but however I do a lot of simming (FS9). Anything that I throw in here I know will help my frame rates...just need a suggestion. I would like to stick with NVIDIA (GeForce) if possible...unless somebody has something good to say about ATI.
Thanks for the help.
P.S. Maybe next year I'll do another upgrade, and give this to the wife.
Rest of my system:
MB: ASROCK Conroe XFire-eSATA2
CPU: P4 D930 3.0GHZ - Can easily OC...but at this point I don't need to.
Memory: 1GB DDR-2 PC2-4300 (266MHZ)
Windows XP SP3

I asked a similar question for a new Dell with a 300 watt supply and free pci-e slot:

8300/8600 - really??? Wow...cool!!!!!!! I was thinking 7600 or so...didn't think I could go any higher than that. Looking at the difference between the 8600gt, and 8600gts...doesn't look like there is much power consumption...actually the gts looks less than the gt:
8600 GTS ________##¶)¶]#}|' 21W-31W-47W ≤
8600 GT _________###¶)##} 26W-52W
Not sure which one is the better card...but as I said earlier...anything is better than what I have now. Thanks for the info.

Steve are you running Vista, or XP? I was reading a lot of reviews from Amazon, and a few other tech forums...saying that the 7600 is a better card for games, because the 8600 lags from the Dx10. Also the 7600gt is about $40 cheaper. I'm so confused!!!

My machine is running Vista...I don't do games....
But I do look at tomharware.com video card review section from time to time. It lets you compare cards......The propeller is just a big fan in front of the plane used to keep the pilot cool. When it stops, you can actually watch the pilot start sweating.
