2 users/same computer at the same time?
My wife and I have discussed this a bit, and Im trying to nail down a way for us both to use one computer at the same time - we want to do this together.
Is there any way to use 2 different displays and 2 keyboards/mice along with the whatever internet software needed and OS for both of us to surf simultaneously to different sites while using the same computer(only 1 computer).
I haven't found anything yet, does anyone have any suggestions?
EDIT: I need to mention that I want to run WinXP if possible. I dont need/want to re-learn a new OS unless I have to. . .Last edited by no1_vern; July 24th, 2008 at 06:19 PM.
They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

Free 2-User version of Userful Multiplier - 2 users from 1 computer
I'm not sure how well it works. But AFAIK, this is the only way.Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

Thanks Karma, but that is a linux solution. I might go that way, but I'd rather stick with WinXp if possible.

Everything I've read said that windows seems to have an error when you plug in more then two keyboards. IDK though, I've personally never tried it.
I know on my old pentium d CPU it had some kind of feature that you could hook a terminal up to it, and have multi users at once. But from what I remember, the terminal thing costs as much as another older CPU.Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

What is the restriction to only having one computer?

Cost. I was hoping for a free solution so I dont have to spend 100+ for a new computer.

I just don't see it happening. Now, a laptop with external display and keyboard MAY work, but I don't suppose you have a laptop do you?

Unless you have a decent, mid grade multicore computer, your going to get horrible performance as that would essentially be taking multi-tasking to the max.
Your better off planning on getting a new computer, or a refurb laptop for the second computer then try using one computer for two people.

Hmm... maybe fit 2 computers into one case.
I know...it's 2 computers, but you'll still get the warm and fuzzy feeling of sharing "a computer"
Only way I know of because you'll always be stuck with one curser/mouse pointer. It is possible to use two mice/keyboards but they will always be fighting for use of the same cursor/pointer.

Another Two User Question
I want to know if my IE history can be accessed by my partner who also uses the same laptop, from their IE screen, without going to my IE screen?
I have my IE screen on auto-delete for any and all sites I visit; but my partner is much more computer savy than I, and I'm wondering if they can somehow create a 'link' of some-sort from my IE screen to theirs, thus finding out what sites I visit?

If someone has access to your computer then more or less anything you do can be found out. Windows passwords can be cracked pretty easy and also spy / keylog type software can be installed to capture every web site, email and of course Instant Message you write.
Isn't Technology Wonderful?

It's not crazy..
For example: I want my media center program, Boxee to always be running on my HDTV. I don't care what user is logged into the PC with the LCD monitor attached--I want Boxee on the TV at all times.
No OS that I am familiar with has the ability to segregate physical login from display. Server OSs (Windows, OSX, *Nix) readily allow for multiple virtual logins with virtual display; but this doesn't meet the need. What you really want is the ability to designate a physical display to a user.
