| A CD-R I burnt can't be read on MY computer
Hi, this is my first time at TechIMO
I just finished burning a bunch of manga onto a CD-R. For those of you who don't know, this consists of all picture files (JPEGs, GIFs, etc.) as well as a few thumbs thrown in here or there.
After I burned it, I ejected the disk and then placed it back in to see if it would work. It didn't.
I then tried looking at the files on the computer of a friend of mine. It worked there.
Oh, my specs
Um... it's a pretty old computer, an IBM Thinkpad T41
Intel Pentium M processor 1.6GHz
1 GB of RAM
I used IMAPI to burn the files
My CD/DVD drive is a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R9012 (I think)
What is need is a way to view the files on my computer. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it alot! |

There are multiple lasers in new drives. Your playback laser may have died or the lens may be dusty. Open the tray and clean the lens with alcohol.
If no joy, you will need a replacement.

I don't think you're burning anything with a DVD-ROM. Nor do I suspect a laser problem, if you are able to burn the discs.
IMAPI is the Windows CD burning wizard. This generally makes for very compatible discs, but your drive may be finicky about media. Can you tell us what brand and speed of discs these are? |

While burning though, I set it to 2X as I read somewhere that it might help if I did that. |

Try a different brand. Memorex are famous for their unreliability. Maxell (made in Japan), Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim are good. |

Damnit, I bought them in America (Cause I'm moving to China for two years cause of my dad's work) and I doubt the ones I buy here are any good.
Oh well, I'll try those when I go back.
Thanks! |
