| Alright, New Buying new computer Monday, but there are complications
I mentioned a while ago I was going to buy a new computer. I have all the money, and I know what I want, but I live in Switzerland, and the best place to buy computer parts is here: Steg Online Shop
I was wondering which CPU to get, the rest I can figure out. I was thinking of getting a quad core, but I don't know how to choose CPUs anymore (I have been out of the game for too long)

Well basically get a quad if you want it to last long. A dual core if you jsut want speed for now. For quads its a Q6600 or a Q9300 if you want to spend more I guess.

What are your main uses for this PC?
If you plan on doing video/photo editing, or a lot of CPU intensive work, then the Quad will pay off. If this is mainly for gaming, and surfing the webz, then a dual core is best.
And I would vote Q6600/6700. Or the E8400/8500 |

With that budget, I'd do this..
CPU: Q9450
GPU: ATI 4870
RAM: 4 gigs
Motherboard: Maybe a nice x38/x48 or P45 Motherboard
One large HDD, then one Raptor
PSU: Probably something like the PC Power & Cooling 750w and best quality one they have.
I'll make a more exact list now though.
