new laptop recommendations

Hey guys. My laptop finally shit the bed after 3 long years of dedicated service and heavy abuse. While I'll most likely be fixing it (I believe it's the tubes in the monitor) I'd like to purchase a new laptop.

Budget: $1400

Necessary Features:
Core 2 Duo (or better)
2+ gigs ram
15in screen (negotiable)
decent battery life (3+ hours expected for at least a year or two)
built in webcam (i do a lot of conferencing, so this needs to be decent)
trackpad (I hate the little tracking nub. grrrr)
solid build (my laptops take abuse. It needs to be a solid computer that can take the abuse)

Features I'd really like:
touch screen (I'd be willing to bump my budget to $1600 for this)

I'd probably have to look into the latitude line from Dell.
