small form factor vs laptop dvd burner

I currently am looking to put a dvd burner in my "Small form factor" dell oprtiplex gx270. Is there any difference between a 'small form factor' dvd burner and a laptop dvd burner? Or can I just use a laptop burner?

Thanks in advance!
~Nick

Laptop drives often have a proprietary (shaped) external panel that won't fit in a flat bezel. All you need to buy is a "slim" drive:
