| trouble playing Blu-ray through laptop on tv
Hey all. Having just purchased a new dell laptop with blu-ray, i connected the laptop to my television using an HDMI cable. All was fine, but when i tried to play a blu-ray disk, a message popped up preventing it from playing, for copyright reasons, i believe. The television was being used as a clone moniter. Can anyone help me sort out my problem? Thanks to all in advance. |

Hi, Jonez:
Welcome to TechIMO.
Please provide the model of your Dell, your operating system, the exact error message, and the program you are using to play Blu-Ray discs. |

Thanks for the reply Osprey.
It's a dell xps M1530 , using windows vista ultimate. The program used was Dell's media direct, however, i also tried using real player, but it could not detect the disk.
The disk played fine on just my laptop, but as soon as i tried to run it through a tv, the message popped up and stopped it. I am unable to access a television till tomorrow and so will post the message then. Many thanks for any help you can provide. |

Bluray movies use HDCP, something that does not allow the movie to be played on a non-HDCP supporting monitor.

| Problems with playing Blurays from laptop to TV
Hi guys, I saw this forum recently and have just the problem you might be able to solve:-). I think this really is a great forum and all your help really is appreciated. I too have a problem with streaming a Bluray disc from my laptop to TV. My laptop is Acer Aspire 6920g with Win XP. TV is Phillips 42 PFL 9732 (about 1 year old) and AV receiver Yamaha RX-V663. I have a Bluray movie on my hard disc and tried to play it in PowerDVD. I wouldn't play it and said not HDCP-compliant. When I run it only on my laptop it, it plays just fine. What I can't understand is, why does it say not HDCP-compliant, since all of my hardware is HDCP-compliant? You can varify that on official sites. So please guys, I really don't know what to do and would really like to watch Blurays, because now I have good enough hardware, but still have problems:-(. If you need any more specifications about hardware, just ask. Thanks in advance. |

Is your videocard output going directly to your TV? What are you using to connect them? |

Tnx EXreaction, I have solved the problem. The problem was in the output. I had to set on graphic card only one copy of signal and put it on TV. Only then was it HDCP compliant. |
