| Built a new PC, Getting Boot Failure Error
I just put together a new PC for a friend of mine, I can boot into BIOS just fine but when I try and boot of my vista disk I get the " Boot Disk Failure Insert System Disk And Press Enter" error. The BIOS detects the HD and CD ROM perfectly and I've tried changing it to boot from CD first and HD first. I notice when I try and boot from the disk the drive sounds like its reading but doesn't attempt to spin. Any ideas on this? |

did u install the vista?
I assume there is no OS in the hdd so it's normal to get such an error. |

No OS, brand new HDD. If it's normal how do I get past this, I've never had this problem building any other machines. |

Change the BIOS to boot the CDROM first. Install Vista via DVD. |

at least your half way there
while in the BIOS did you setup your hardware ?...Sata and Pata drives
date/time etc.
just set your cd-rom as first boot and disable the other boot options
in the BIOS,you can change it later after windows installs |

Was a little confused as to what your problem was. Try booting into your BIOS and setting the IDE or SATA devices to auto detect. If thats not working you need to figure out what device (CD ROM / HDD) is on which cable (primary/secondary) if your working with IDE drives. |

When you boot the machine, you should see your harddisk and cd rom detected as a device.
If they dont appear then you probably will have to check if the cables are properly connected (data and power).
If they are correctly connected then you have a faulty device, you could try to hook up another one from your other machines just to test the motherboard is not the culprit. |
