thanks for the advice but one reason i wanted that power supply was because it was 900 watts. Do you think 750 will be enough since i am planning to eventually go tri-sli with the graphics cards? Also how do you go about figuring out how much power your computer will need? |

If you're going to go triple SLI, then a higher wattage power supply would be best.
IMO, Rosewill isn't the best maker of power supplies. I would go for a high wattage OCZ, Corsair, or PC Power and Cooling. |

To be honest I think you should redress your priorities before doing anything else. First off, what is your budget? Also, why get such a cheap hard drive? Not only is 160 smallish for a even a laptop these days, but with the budget you seem to be suggesting, you could get a velociraptor; this wd 640 is the cheapest I would go with.
And with the gfx, I would probably start with a 260, there are newer, and really fast, and don't suck the same kind of power the gx2 does.
Two last things, one I would go quad core, either the q9300 (45nm) or the q6600. And I would do faster ram, especially since you are already going for a $200+ mobo, I would go ddr3.
Ultimately, I think you should really layout your budget, and your goals, and then we can really draw out the best possible setup.

Everybody has pretty much said everthing I would say. You don't need 950 watt PS if you're planning on using a single graphics card. I'd save some dinero and get a Corsair 750 like Karma mentioned. It's what I got and it's solid and stable. Very little flucuations on the rails under load.

NO. That's DDR3. You'll need DDR2. |

Is it worth getting a more expensive mobo just for the ability to have ddr3 ram? |

At this point, DDR3 really doesn't pay off for the extra performance it offers. When DDR3 gets cheaper, and prices drop on compatible Mobo's, then it'll be worth it. But IMO, it's not justified for the price ATM.
Another thing you should consider, is Intel is releasing their new line up of CPU's here shortly. And those are gonna blow away anything that's on the market now. At first it's gonna be pricey, but, it's going to drop all the prices of the current stuff. So if you buy now, be prepared to see the exact same things you just bought for a lot cheaper.
It sucks, but that's how PC's go anymore. |
