Need help building a gaming computer

Well all my brother has at the moment is $800 dollars, he however has a job so if it's a bit more he can afford it. This computer is intended for gaming and he needs everything besides the mouse, keyboard, and monitor. He would also like a decently sized hard drive. Also he doesn't want a system that will be outdated extremely fast and would like something that he can update as time goes on.

We have really no experiance with computer parts so we're very open to suggestions!
If you have suggestions that are over our $800 budget PLEASE post them!

Here's a build I was suggested:
Newegg.com Shopping Cart(I don't need the OS/drives/Case)
This build only comes up to around $620 and it has everything I need. However, I'm not sure how good each part is and if theres anything that I can upgrade that will help the performance.
For example:
For $50 more dollars I can get a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
instead of the Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Would this be better? Also I have no idea if the MB picked is any good at all >.>

That's a solid build in your list. If you got the money, it would be worth while IMO to get the E8400. But that build would handle most games on high setting, with no issues. And all the parts are quality parts also.
Nice setup!

I see. We decided we'll go with the E8400. Also another question, is there a better Motherboard I could get and is my power supply powerful enough to handle this comp? We really have no experiance at all so ~~!

Also how does my memory match up to these two:
Newegg.com - CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

Is there any con's besides price going with one of these memory or any pro's?
