Buying a new video card (soon)

After JP's help and crew I finally got my rig!

See my final setup:Building a new CPU need some feedback/advice.
Thread whole link: Building a new CPU need some feedback/advice.

JP I want to buy a video card within the next few weeks .

Here is what I was thinking:

ATI: Newegg.com - VisionTek 900244 Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Or

NVIDIA: Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N873-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Both cards are great...but I think I can get something better.
I wanna stay within (around) the 200$ price range...I need the rest of the money towards a good monitor..any advice for that?

I'm NOT the VC expert around here...

But My advice is to wait until your actually ready to buy...
THEN ask...
things change pretty drastically in such a short period of time...
You will most likely be able to afford a much better card by then

The 4870 will destroy the 9800GTX+.

As JP said.. ask when you got the money to purchase...

Videocards are one of the hardware pieces that have more drastic price changes over time.

imo your cards are great but get a sapphire 4870 instead. but sticking with visionteck wouldnt hurt. ATI beats nvidia in game performance and bang for buck

but if u want to go NVIDIA get this

Newegg.com - BFG Tech BFGEGTX260896OC2E GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

its 33 dollars more then the 4870 and much better then then 9800 gtx IMO but the 4870 beats its performance and is cheaper imo.

Newegg.com - DIAMOND 4850PE3512 Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

its 189 dollars

as for a 24 inch monitor go with any of these u can surly get cheaper ones but samsung has the best quality monitors if u ask me

Newegg.com - 24", LCD Monitors, SAMSUNG, Computer Hardware

Yo can try the 4870 1gb version since your resolution is going to be pretty large (bigger res, more ram needed).

Nice monitors, hopefully the price drops by the time I am ready to buy a new monitor.
How much do monitors prices go down?
Samsung ones look amazing and seems to have the best reviews.

Samsungs are nice LCD's. But there are others that are just as good, that don't carry the high price tag..
For example:
Newegg.com - Acer X223Wbd Black 22" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 2500:1 - LCD Monitors
That's what I'm looking at right now. It's a very nice screen. Look at the specs.

As far as the GPU
If you got the money, go for the GTX260 216. If not, the 4870 can't be beat for the price.
