For the most part those are Excellent choices
Someone may suggest some minor tweaks for savings...
But the only thing that jumps out at me is the PSU...
I'm all for overkill, but thats just a waste of money... This OCZ is plenty of overkill and cheaper BEFORE rebate
most people seem to agree that the higher end dual cores outgame the quads, which are more usefull for encoding and other jobs that utilize more than 2 cores... |

| Its not the ram in the graphics card that makes it fast. A slow card will need less ram while a fast card usually needs more. Two cards with 512mb of ram can perform very differently if they have different GPUs. Quote:

Although its going to be slower for gaming, CPUs are all so fast nowadays that its really just the graphics card that limits the system. So the quad (depending on which one you get of course) is not really going to slow it down at all. The quad will also only get 'faster' as time passes since more and more programmes are going to be coded to take advantage of multiple cores, giving it an advantage over a dual. Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
If you can spend an extra $30 you can grab a slightly faster one. Newegg.com - Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
As a last bit of advice, I suggest you wait a few weeks to get your computer. A whole new Intel platform is coming out in a week or two which will drop the prices of the current stuff. Dont bother with getting a system based on the new platform though as you will probably have to spend a thousnad more for a low end one (which is still going to be blazing fast). Its not worth it just yet.

| I hope this isn't a stupid question
I was wondering about if I bought an E8500 dual core processor for the computer I'm building would I be able to swap it out for a quad core processor later? |

Yes you would. As long as they are both socket 775, you'll be able to swap.. |

Hey guys, doesn't it matter that the mother board you chose is only compatible with 1200mhz RAM? Or are motherboards backwards compatible with 800? I'm also looking into building and I'm glad to hear that 800mhz ram is fast enough |
