| Soon to graduate looking for advice...
So I found TechIMO back in my senior year of high school looking for a laptop to take with me to college and you all helped me find the one I ended up buying! (Still using it today!) It's now 4 years later and I'm about to graduate from college so I come to you for advice...
What kind of possible careers would you suggest looking into after graduation?
I will have a minor in broadcast multimedia and would like to steer away from programming if at all possible.
Are there any stories or advice that you have had when you came out of college?
Looking back on it would you have done anything differently after leaving college?

you can be a PC builder like I am or was (depends on how you see it). I've made some good money out of it with only a 25% profit from just building performance systems. but a good start up job would be at a place like microcenter, staples, or stores like those. |

Was the major from like an Arts and Sciences College (Computer Science; mostly programming) or a Business College (MIS; more management related)?
You have a nice degree and minor; I've been a programmer for the last 13 years and still love it...most of the time LOL. Let me know the focus of your degree and maybe I can come up with some suggestions |

When I graduated from college I started out by working in some local computer repair shops. I learned a lot of very useful tips, tricks and other information working with the guys in these shops. Was doing this for about 2-3 years now I have a job running a e-commerce store for a local medium sized business and so far it has been great! But it really depends on what you know most about or enjoy doing. I myself do not enjoy programing. |

I've found programmers to be a somewhat rare breed too; it's the way our brains are "wired" I think ROFL.
My Advanced COBOL class started with 26 students; just 12 of us at the end. It's not a field for everyone; some days it's like finals week 8 hours a day. But it pays good |

Let me know the focus of your degree and maybe I can come up with some suggestions | I'll be graduating from Georgia Southern University, it's a traditional 4 year school. I've taken Java courses, a lot of web design, some JSP courses as well as some graphic design however the teachers hated me so I ended up dropping out of the GD program. I've also had project management, Systems analysis and design and currently in database management class. I started out as a business major, but switched to IT after my first sophomore semester. I hope this answers your question, let me know if you need anything more. |

Is the money good in that career field? |

Check out Monster and CareerBuilder and see if you can your resume posted up there and get into a "professional" level job, maybe even with a large company where you have the room to grow
Your courses look similar to mine a couple years ago and I looked on Monster and had alot of responses/offers before I even graduated. It's definately worth a shot, if you have more questions feel free to PM or ask in here. Quote:
