Need 40 ft cable for USB Printer (Type A to Type B)

I use a wireless HP Photojet AIO. I got it on sale for less than what the refills for my Lexmark cost. Using a laptop in one room and printing in another is nice. I just need to train the dog to fetch the printing for me. My next step is to get a wireless Print Server for the Laser in my office.

I had the wireless routers ($40.00) and only had to add the printer. It is well worth it for me. The speed of the printer more than makes up for any wireless lag. The printer is WEP protected as no one in my range has any idea on how to compromise it.

Not true!

I've gone out over 30ft using Active USB cables and placing a powered USB hub in the middle . . . without any problems. I've never tried going up to 40ft though.

Wireless or network adapter (USB print server) would be my 1st choice in your case.

My question is why do people want printers that are in a room seperate from the computer? My office is at home and I have my printer sitting above my moniter on a self. I would even begin to prefer my printer in the living room or kitchen. My kids would destroy it, or the wife will knock it over by accident when she's cooking some meal for our church.
