Firefox Problems
Hey Gang,
Using firefox on Toshiba Laptop using Windows Vista 32bit edition.
Problem (s)
Before it was not working at all, completely cleaned system of firefox and cleaned the registry of all traces, downloaded firefox and now these are the same problems showing up.
Any ideas?
1. When opening a website (any) it ask to download a file, I changed the options to set it to open with firefox. It goes through the process then opens.
2. Whenever you click on a link it automatically opens that link in a new tab and want it to open in the same tab.
3. whenever you click on a link it automatically opens up a bunch of pop up ads. (popup blockers are set to on and it still does it anyways.)
I'll be back in tommorrow to try what you all suggest and keep you updated.
Blessings,
Karin
Edit: BTW I am not that familar with firefox just so that ya'll know.

Sounds like you have some malware, Karin. Run Spybot or Ad-Aware on that puppy.

yeah i think you might be right. I decided to do a reformat. his computer really needed to be tweaked anywaays, but i want this thread to keep going just in case i run into the same problems again. couple other people have already tried to fix it at no avail and i discovered there were more problems than orignally started out with. Get the people talking and you'll find out what happens.
So right now its finishing up a reformat and then customize and tweak his system. not only that, this system also gets connected by wifi at our work and theres beena virsu going around. we already lsot one computer due to this so I thought it would be better to start from scratch. so that is what im doing right now.

Well not that it applies now, but I always create a new profile and/or run firefox in safe mode when I need to troubleshoot any issues. I know you said you removed FF and deleted it from the registry but occasionally something gets overlooked.
