I've run a OCZ PSU on my rig for a long time now, no problems. They are one of the top names in PSU's if you ask me. I have the 600w StealthXStream, and it's powered my OC'd Quad rig for a while now, no issues. |

Sorry to bring this back up again but i want to order a PSU tonight. The shop i was gonna buy it from, i think has gone pear shaped, so gonna order from ebuyer.
Looking at my build at the top of this thread would a 500w OCZ be ok. OCZ Technology | Products | Power Management | OCZ 500W-700W ModXStream Pro Power Supply
It has dual rails, 18A on each. I am defo gonna get the HD4850, and possibly in a year get a cheapy HD4870.
Would the 500w struggle with the HD4870?
Thanks |

I think the 500w would push the 4870, but it would be extremely close IMO.
I would try to opt for a 600w if you can. |

Thanks KK
What if i were to forget the 4870 and just stick with the 4850. 500w be ok then or still close?
edit...also try some slight overclocking |

I would say that you would be fine with a 4850. Really, there is only ~25 watts difference in between what the 4850 and the 4870 use at full load. But IMO, I would stick to a 4850 if your only doing a 500w PSU. But that's just me. I'm sure some other people might disagree with me on that. |

Ordered a OCZ 600w from another supplier. That should do the trick. |
