Thanks everyone for the help. I managed to finish putting together my system today. Unfortunately either I did something wrong with connecting the cd-rom, or it doesn't work. Or is there something I should do in BIOS for it?
Also, what should I set for the "primary/slave" option?
Thanks. |

Might try moving the cable to a different port on the motherboard. Maybe that'll do the trick.
Is it just the CD rom drive not working? What exactly is it doing? |

I tried using the two different IDE cables that came with it. However the LG cd-rom just won't open, and I don't see a light on it. I can try an old cd-rom I suppose. |

Ok. so this is a IDE drive. there is a possibility that your having a jumper issues.
Look on the back of the drives, and you'll notice some pins that aren't for power or the IDE cable.
Basically, you need to set up jumpers on the drive, making one the "primary" or "master" drive, then one as the "secondary" or "slave" drive.
There is another configuration you can do to, it's labled as "CS" on the drive. Which stands for "cable select". Basically, that leaves your PC to decide and setup the "master" and "slave" option. |

Argh, well basically I'm an idiot. It would help to have my power supply cord connected to the cd-rom. Give me a break though, I've been on it for hours! I posted that last post before my body forced me to go to sleep.
Right now everything is powered and working, I just had to change the cpu frequency to 3.0GHz in BIOS. I set my cd-rom for first boot primary, and am in the process of installing Vista atm. |

hehe don't feel bad. My first build, I forgot to plug in the power button on the computer case, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn on. |
