Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (I'll start with 4 gb and later get 4 more)

I've got a few extra hard drives lying around.

What do you think? Would you make any changes? Will this be a good setup to be able to overclock eventually? (I've never overclocked before but once I get the extra ram I'd like to look into it and overclock the cpu)

That power supply is total overkill. You could easily run two of those systems on that power supply, with a lot of room to spare.

Take the money you save on the power supply and buy a new hard drive. Older drives are much slower than a new 640GB drive.

i would get an intel core 2 quad, since they seem to be faster than any phenom.
