I am looking into getting a printer and am wondering which of the two of these is better: the canon 750 or the HP 960c? |

Never heard of a Canon 750 and cannot find it anywhere online. Do you mean the Epson 750?
HP
HPCartridges are more efficient (use less ink-addin up the volume of the Canon BC 10 cartridge +the cost of the new print head ever 4 refills is more expensive than the HP cartridge in many cases)
Reliability is much more in HPs favor
Work load of the HP is 3000 sheets/month (high for an inkjet)
Same info goes for the Epson. Epson uses more ink and is much less reliable than the HP.

daveleau.. the funny thing is that although other printers may use more ink and have smaller cartidges, hp consistently had a higher cost per page.... I'll back that up with some proof when I have time to search for that article.

In some cases that is correct, but when you factor in printer head replacement, it often evens out or becomes a negligible difference. Depends on which printer and the price f the cartridges at the store in question.
Epson typically uses loads more ink to get tehir resolutions and has some of the highest PPP, if I remember correctly. Canon is much better. |

I just bought a HP960C to replace my 6-year old HP650Cse. There was nothing wrong with my 650. It still prints perfectly to this day. The main reason I bought it was because I wanted something with higher resolution and photo ability but the same bulletproof reliability.
The automatic paper identifer is a nice touch. |

I just got the Canon S750 to replace a workhorse HP890. The S750 is fast and prints out great photo quality pictures. It's nice because it uses the individual ink tanks for the colors. And it's quiet.
HP might be built a little more solid but the Canon seems a good bang for the buck in terms of speed, higher print resolution and cost of the ink replacement cartridges. With HP, you have to buy the tri-color cartridge and the built-in printhead everytime which is more expensive.
I got a good deal with the Staples $40 off coupon but had to throw in the 100 pack of CD-Rs to push it over $200, but it had a $20 rebate. |

The funny thing in the HP versus Canon argument.
Is: Who builds the printer engines for HP?.... Canon.
At least the lasers, dunno the Inkjets. |
