Memory apps for checking & tweaking RAM sub-timings. Memset for Intel chipsets prior to IMC CPUs and CPU-Tweaker for CPUs with an IMC (Integrated Memory Controller).
XtremeSystems Forums - View Single Post - New Memory Tweaker for Intel Chipsets
Driver Cleaner Pro is no longer freeware & can't be downloaded anymore without buying it. The guys at Guru3D have Driver Sweeper, but I've never tried it.

Hi, not so much of a suggestion, but...
Does anyone know of a good (free) DVD playing application...? Just been trying VLC but it isn't doing the trick...
Oh, and just realised that AVG is missing from the list too...
AVG Antivirus and Security Software - Real-time protection against viruses, spyware and malicious websites
(or AVG Free - Download Free Antivirus and Antispyware for Windows 7, Vista and XP for the free version)

Give Jet Audio a try, once configured right it plays DVD's fine, have been using it for years, but I'm not too picky about my DVD software as long as it plays with out artifacting, slow frame rates, or reduced image quality.
but its worth a try... should also add it to the free apps as well
the Basic version is the free one.

About time for an update or three..
CDBurnerXP - CDBurnerXP: Free CD and DVD burning software
Burns all sorts of disks, for audio or data...I've used it for CDs and DVDs, but it can also do Blu-Ray and HD-DVD disks, according to the site
LastFM - Last.fm - Listen to free music with internet radio and the largest music catalogue online
Non-install audio streamer where you can choose your own tracks; by artist, genre or their suggestions based on what you like
AVG - AVG - Antivirus and Internet Security | Virus Protection [or AVG Free - Antivirus Download | Free Virus Protection for the free version]
AntiVirus software, I use it on all of my [non-server] M$ machines
Avira - Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus
Another AntiVirus program - while not one that I've used, I have heard many good things about it from other technophiles...
There are prolly a few more, but that'll do until Aaron updates the OP...

Oh, forgot to add Notepad++ (but I don't have a link - I'm on the BlackBerry), really good text editor, doesn't lose formatting with some TXT and LOG files like Notepad does...and it will 'cache' files that weren't closed before the app was killed..

Need to remove the Driver Cleaner Link in the Drivers Category for Cleaning GPU Driver Bits, etc, as Guru3D no longer supports it, and has deleted any and all Download links for it.
Something about latest versions had many ad pop ups in the installer and since they were strongly against any of that, they were waiting for the guy who made it to remove them, guess things didn't pan out well (this was back in October of last year), even the thread in their forums about the program, is dead as of October 2010, no recent postings.
so can safely say to remove that link from our list.

Oh, that reminds me of a link (purely web-based, but can be very handy in troubleshooting [incoming] DNS issues)
MX Lookup Tool - Check your DNS MX Records online - MxToolbox
You can check MX Records, do DNS/NS searches and run a WHOIS on it...some of this can be done from the CLI anyway, but this has a good GUI and offers one-click next steps...

Looks like this hasn't been updated for a while....so consider this a free BUMP..!!
Also, what are some good backup apps that are available (both free and paid) that can be added...
(If Aaron doesn't, then I will)
