PHEW!!!!
This ones a doozy... ($9000+ as is)
much more serious build, but with enough left over for a Watercooling setup and your own personal choice for Keyboard/mouse (obviously things like case, etc can be changed if you don't like them, but its one of the roomiest on the market currently)
this build is rounded out for 3D modeling, etc, plus gaming.
ok, where to start...
CPU: Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Bloomfield 3.33GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
RAM: 2x Newegg.com - OCZ Flex EX Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kits Desktop Memory Model OCZ3FXE1600C7LV6GK - Desktop Memory
Mobo: Newegg.com - MSI Eclipse Plus LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
GPU1: For Gaming, Newegg.com - EVGA 017-P3-1295-AR CO-OP Edition GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
GPU2: For 3D modeling maybe even use it for PhysX with the 295, Newegg.com - PNY Quadro FX 4800 VCQFX4800-PCIE-PB Quadro FX4800 1.5GB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Supported Workstation Video Card - Workstation Graphics / Video Cards
Sound Card: though mobo has onboard hardware Creative X-fi, Creatives driver support is crap, and limits the X-fi's total features, only Auzentechs X-fi's are completely unleashed, Newegg.com - ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards
TV tuner card: Why a tuner card? you'll see with accessories below Newegg.com - DViCO FusionHDTV7 Dual Express DUAL HDTV/Analog TV Tuner Card - TV Tuners & Video Devices
Power Supply: Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE ST1200 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies
Optical Drive 1: Newegg.com - Pioneer Black 8X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 5X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM 4MB Cache SATA Internal Blu-ray Burner 8X Blu-Ray DVD Burner w/ Software Model BDR-203BKS - Blu-Ray Burners
Optical Drive 2: Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 4X BD-ROM 12X DVD-ROM 32X CD-ROM SATA Internal 4X Blu-ray DVD ROM Model DH-4O1S-08 - Blu-Ray Drives
HDD 1 & 2: run in RAID 0 or 1 plenty of room for the OS and needed apps like Antivirus, Spyware removal, etc, 2x Newegg.com - Patriot Torqx PFZ64GS25SSDR 2.5" 64GB SATA II Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks
HDD 3 & 4: for games and 3D programs again RAID 0 or 1, up to you, 2x Newegg.com - Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
HDD 5, 6, 7, 8: (mobo supports 10 SATA II ports plus 2 additional eSATA ports) more storage... 4x Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drives - Internal Hard Drives
Case: Newegg.com - Thermaltake Spedo Advance Package VI90001W2Z Black 0.8 mm SECC Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
Gaming Headset: Newegg.com - TRITTON AX Pro Dolby Digital 5.1 True Surround Sound Headset With 8 Precision Speakers – XBOX/PS3/PC
Sound system: Newegg.com - ONKYO HT-S5200 7.1-Channel Black Home Theater System with iPod Dock
Display: Newegg.com - Sharp TLM4600 Black 46" 6ms HDMI Large Format Monitor 1920 x 1080 400 cd/m2 1500:1 - Large Format Display
Total, $9,133.80 before shipping, $120 in mail in rebates. shipping looks like close to $150-160.
but that leaves almost $800 for use on Water cooling for various components and keyboard, Mouse choice.
for $10,000 budget, that's one potential build.
would just need to swap in the OS from the GTX 295 to Quadro when doing 3D stuff, back to 295 for gaming. not sure, but might even be able to use the Quadro for PhysX processing while using the 295. HDMI out from cards, or from sound card to home theater setup which is a 7.1 setup, and 1200W of power, and to a 46" 1920x1080 display. add in the HDTV tuner, and ALL of that storage, plenty of room for recording shows, and what not.
3D workstation, Gaming Rig, PVR, HTPC, etc all in one massive, and expensive build.

Yeah, I got to looking at stuff again, and that GPU waterblock I told ya to get won't fit.
Now the problem is they don't make any blocks for the FTW edition of that card, so that kind of sucks.
I've been looking for something else, no luck yet though.

Lol. If he is going to spend $10k, I dont really think he is going to bother with $150 in rebates.
