Building a computer for school work (heavy 3dD modeling, 3D flash game making, Heavy Gaming) . Ya i know i just built a computer that will do all these things fine, but the parents are paying for this one so i figure i can take advantage of that. I want this computer to blow everything out of the water. Water cooling, preferably TRI-SLI, tons of fast ram , preferably a i7 or 2 , some solid state drives, blueray burner, and i think im going to get the new razer mamba mouse and maybe a g19 keyboard ? And hell why not throw in a nice monitor thats bigger than 32in, as thats what i already have. Now the budget is pretty much limitless but try to keep it under 10k.
Have fun
EDIT: also include a good sound system and sound card!

im not wasting their money, my family just won a large sum of money and they asked what i wanted with my share and as i already got a new guitar and car i still had alot left over so i figured id build a sick computer. And i think i may be giving my computer to a friend as he just lost his computer when his basement flooded.

Hmmmm, 10 Grand Budget, damn, well there goes that build Idea... Dual 3.2GHz Socket 1366 Xeon Quads, 6x 12GB DDR3 1066 Triple channel kits (18 sticks) ECC Registered RAM, 4x GTX 295 Water Cooled cards (one run for games or as primary display, the other 3 run independently for Folding@Home, or multiple displays, etc)...
well that about limits the build, all of the above parts come to $91xx something already, and haven't even delved into the storage, water cooling, case, or sound card/system, etc LOL...
lets try this again LOL...

well, here's what I got so far...
CPU: Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Bloomfield 3.33GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
RAM: 2x Newegg.com - OCZ Flex EX 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model OCZ3FXE1866LV6GK - Desktop Memory (ready to be hooked up to H2O cooling)
Mobo: Newegg.com - ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer LGA 1366 Intel X58 CEB Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards (7 PCIE slots, 1 for Sound card, 6 for GPU's below)

HDD 1: 2x Newegg.com - Intel X25-M SSDSA2MH080G1 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks ( for OS and most everyday programs, etc. some of the fastest SSD's out there, 2 in either RAID 0 for blazing ass speeds, or in RAID 1 for redundancy, either way, blazing fast)

Main PSU: Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling T12W 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies (should be able to run 2-3 of the GTX 295's with 3x 6 pin and 3x 6+2 pin PCIE connectors)
Supplementary PSU's: 3x Newegg.com - FSP Group Booster X5 450W Independent/Supplementary SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Dedicated Multi.GPU Power - Power Supplies (might only need 2, but 3 for the additional 3 cards, these units are only rated for 37.5A and highly doubt it would power 2 GTX 295's, not even sure if it would power one, let alone 2, despite having 2x 6 pin and 2x 6+2 pin connectors each)
Sound Card: Newegg.com - ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards
Case: Newegg.com - Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
just missing OS, Speakers, and Watercooling kit/heatsinks/waterblocks.
LOL, I know this system is absurd, but for $10K budget, couldn't help by try and piece together something.
as is with out parts mentioned above, comes to $8,987.78 before shipping, and a whopping $80 in Mail in Rebates LOL... just enough to keep it under 9 Grand so you have a grand to spend on Water cooling, Speakers and an OS |

You can fit 4 double height cards on that board...... | Not only that, but that motherboard can only handle a total of 4 GPU's. Tri sli and one for physics, that's it. Even if you had all single slot cards, you still couldn't utilize them like your thinking.
I'll make a list too. |

Ok, so now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, couple questions.
1. Do you HAVE to spend the money now, or your just wanting to?
2. Say if you only spent 5 grand, could you keep the other 5?
3. probably just easier if you jump on the IM'er, I'm gonna drill you with questions.. |
