| Does a monitor really effect gfx performance?
I'm currently using a shitty CRT monitor, my 19" LCD monitor should be here from newegg in a few days and I'm wondering will it decrease my gaming performance and how? |

I vote you wait a few days and post back your results
The older LCD's were a bit slower in the refresh department...Odds are you won't notice any difference except for the part about having a nice new monitor

Normally when people say something along the lines of "this new monitor is killing my GPU" it's normally because LCD's run larger resolutions then what CRT monitors do. So you probably will take a performance hit in games, unless you turn down the resolution. |

Yes, but your newer LCD will run at a larger res. Yes, you could turn it down, but it won't look good at all in games.
What monitor are you getting? What's the specs on your system.
EDIT:
Nevermind, I see you have another thread going for that.

if you end up buying that 4830 from your other thread, you shouldn't have too much to worry about unless that new LCD is running 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 or larger resolutions, but then depends on the games run too.

Both resolutions are larger than what you are using now.
