Phenom II is faster than the Core 2 so I'm reccomending the amd system.

Now the only reason I mentioned a new psu is because I don't know how old your current one is and electronics aren't the best thing to smoke around expecially if you smoke around them for years.

But in some cases amd's are faster. Just not that chip.

Yea, the AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE is a great performing CPU. They overclock well and come out ahead of the Core 2 Quad Q9550. They lag well behind the Core i7 though.

I believe the 955 beat the i7 on Tom's Fallout 3 bench. Karma linked to it a few weeks ago, or was it months?
