the one you found has 4GB of DDR3 for $10 less than the one Aaron found with 4GB DDR2, which means more speed/bandwidth for $10 less than the other one cost.
I'm just surprised to see the MSI cost more though, their usually pretty good with competing prices on some rivals laptops for this genre.
just keep in mind, any gaming on the go (battery power) will suck the life out of the system in no time. so look into grabbing some extra battery's and/or larger cell battery's for the laptop if available.

Yes the GPU is a fair bit better. Though the proccesor is a little slower, also uses DDR2 not DDR3 ram.
I imagine that 260 would really kill battery life, at such a small res its not really worth it over the other laptop, although it is a little cheaper.

Just throwing this out...my daughter just graduated from college and was a Residence Hall supervisor for a couple of years. I had to move her around a few dorms. I understand his desire for a laptop cuz some of these dorm rooms are miniscule; I mean smaller than a prison cell!
What she and her boyfriend did was she had the laptop for school work and a Xbox360 for gaming in the room(s). Our university for some reason supplied a really sweet cable tv package to the kids (I'm sure it was in their dorm bills ).
What I'm getting at is a gaming lappy is going to be big, bulky and heavy and run hotter than hell. If you're not going to be gaming all over campus then it might be a good idea to do what my daughter did. Nice all around school laptop, Xbox 360 and say a 25" LCD TV.
Just my $0.02 on the subject...not to mention if you're in co-ed dorm (most are these days) you can have some babes over to play on the Xbox...kind of hard to do on the laptop!!!!! |

All around laptops these days are dirt cheap. I'm on an Acer Aspire laptop now, model 4730. Dual core at 2.16 Ghz, 2 gig RAM, 250 gig hard drive, wireless N built in, CD-DVD... $399. Handles everything I need. Similar deals are all over the place.
Xbox360 can be had in different packages from $199 to $399. Not real sure on the price of a smaller LCD TV...maybe around $400?. That puts you at about $1,000 and you got the laptop and an awewome gaming system and whatever cable TV the college offers. And all your college buds that you'll make can play games with you. And all pretty portable too.
AND..if you get a LCD TV with a VGA port and a laptop that will allow a docking port, on your school desk you can have the docking port, full-size keyboard and mouse. Drop the lappy into the port and you can use the LCD as a monitor; pretty much a desktop. It's a start at least
