Most files on computer corrupted

after downloading a torrent i attempted to open the file with Winrar to extract, afterwords i find that the aplications .exe and other such files origional shortcut icons were replaced with a miniature picture of the Symbol of the program Winrar on a sheet of (white) paper. and was confronted with an issue as a window poped up stateing that: "C:\bla\bla.exe the archive is either in unknown format or damaged" most of my computers file shortcuts and programs also were oddly converted to this and gave such issues, even when attempting to use my recovery management tools to restore my system to its defaults i found that even this and all of the files that could influence my disk (Cleaner/ Defragmenter ect.) were also effected. What should i do?

Besides making yourself a promise to never dowload a torrent again - it sounds like your system is so bad that you should do a fres install of the OS...

It wouldn't hurt to try and hook up/slave the hard drive to a working pc and see if you can recover important files.

Try ComboFix to get your system back to where you can run any programs that the infection may have disabled. After running it, use Malwarebytes and your favorite antivirus program.
