| New Processor, Monitor will not turn on
I just got a new Intel Pentium E5300 socket 775. Before i purchased it, I did check the specs on my mobo and it was compatible but when I put it in the monitor will not change from amber to green. Please help me with this very frustrating problem. |

What motherboard make & model are you using? Did it require a BIOS update in order to run the E5300? If not, have you tryed clearing the CMOS?

My motherboard is 4006188R - ECS 945GCT-M3 Motherboard and there was a BIOS update, so I figured that it couldn't hurt anything but I am not exactly sure how to clear my CMOS, so i'll look into it
thanks for the input |

Your older board does not support the newer chip, it says Intel Prescott, Tejas, and Conroe processor. The E5300 is a 45nm wolfdale based chip, its not safe to assume that just because its the same socket (775) that its compatible. Many of the older soclet 775 boards do not support the newer chips.
btw: here's the cpu support list for that board ECS Web Site
