so just so i have it straight win 98se ctrl key (hold down) bypass win start up ,,,,,f8 (tap on constant) bypass win start up,,,,
both keys if used right will do same thing in windows 98 second edition ,,,,, bypass

f8 doesent have to be constantly tapped ,hit once before windows starts

What I found is that if you time it right and press F8 just when the Windows splash screen appears, once is good. Some PC's boot so damn fast that I usually tap F8 until the menu appears. This may have been the way for W95 and W98, maybe SE is better and pressing F8 once as it boots will do it. I will have to test that out.

edit: I think tapping F8 came from my tech support days where I almost went mad when helping people over the phone to get into Safe Mode. They always missed it, so I asked them to tap F8 until the menu appeared. That always worked. Same result, different method.
