| Built a new system and now want to test!
Hi all,
I finally finished my first PC and now want to benchmark it. I used the PC Chips M841LR due to budget constraints. Here is my system. Could someone advise me on what I should get that has a similar setup?
PC Chips M841LR mobo
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
256 MB Crucual PC2100 DDR ram
64MB shared video mem
WD 7200rpm 40 gig HD
Any suggestion to tweak it would be appreciated!
thanks, |

what type of video? you said vid mem was shared, usually a bad sign cause no high end cards use it. as for benchmarks, like said above, pcmark and 3d mark. i'll run my tests and post them as well cause i have an XP1700+ w/ Epox 8kha+ and a gf2 gts (until i get a gf4 ti4200 in a month ) so you can compare. |

Thanks Ace, I will dl it tonight. I did not see a database though? do I have to dl first?
Yea, it is an integrated Video mobo, but I have read some good reviews on the great graphics it has produced for the cost of it. I just wanted to see how it compares to video cards.
For what I do, I don't need a high end video card. Who knows, I might add one in the future though.
I just wanted to see if this mobo is being used by others on this forum and what they recieved for benchmarks. |

For the "database",is there not a way from within 3dmark to go to a website and compare your score to others?
I admit I have not used the new version of this so I could be out of date. They used to have a link on the frontpage of the site ,but like you said,I could not find it either. |

lol, yeah i've got a creative 3d blaster 2 (gf2 gts). common mistake . i am still using integrated audio (aargh), but only for one more day. on wednesday i'm getting a santa cruz, woohoo (i'm a die hard Turtle Beach fan, so even if the audigy is better, i wouldn't "sell out" hehe). yeah, built in video is most definitely gonna be a HUGE bottleneck. i'd recommend going out and finding a gf3 TI200 (newegg has a gainward for $113) and that will dramatically improve your scores. |
